Choirs
CHANCEL CHOIR
The St. Luke’s Chancel Choir is a community of adult singers who support and enhance worship services throughout the program year and beyond. They sing for a majority of 10:00am Sunday Eucharists from September through May, along with monthly services of Choral Evensong. Additionally, members of the Chancel Choir form the core of the Summer Choir, which sings each Sunday of July.
The Chancel Choir sings music in the Anglican choral tradition, including Anglican psalm chants, works by standard composers such as Charles Wood and Herbert Howells, alongside works written in the last few years.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm (September through May). Members of the Choir also sing Compline after the conclusion of weekly rehearsal on Wednesdays.
To join the Chancel Choir, please email Dr. Wyatt Smith, Music Director & Organist, to get more information.
EVENSONG CHOIR
The Evensong Choir joins with members of the Chancel Choir to sing Choral Evensong as a part of our 2nd Sunday Series. The Evensong Choir rehearses once a month on the Saturday morning before each Evensong from 9:30-11:00am. Perfect for anyone who is looking to join a choir as their schedule allows or wants to sing with an additional community! Sign up here or email Dr. Wyatt Smith for more information.
CHORISTERS
Music is a lifelong endeavor. The Chorister program at St. Luke’s seeks to provide opportunity for our children to learn and grow in community and leadership with music at its center. In addition to enhancing various worship services, each child receives training in music fundamentals, vocal production, and camaraderie in music making.
The Junior Choristers (Kindergarten to 4th grade) and Senior Choristers (children from 5th to 12th grade) rehearse on Wednesdays (September through May) from 5:50-6:30pm, after which they sing an abbreviated form of Sung Evening Prayer at 6:30pm. They also sing once a month for the 10:00am Sunday Eucharist, along with Christmas Eve and Easter Day.
If you have or know a child who enjoys singing or would like more information about the program, please email Dr. Wyatt Smith.
